Ubud and Surrounds

This day tour is a great way to familiarize yourself with the many sights and sounds of Bali. Bali has one of the most fascinating and colourful of all cultures and it is most strongly felt around Ubud. ‘Ubud’ means medicine in Balinese and it has always been a place of healing. Artists and bohemians started coming to Ubud in the 1930s and today it is a thriving centre of art, culture and spirituality.

Our orientation will begin in the Monkey Forest, with its massive ancient banyan trees, sacred springs and of course, inquisitive monkeys. From here, walking up Monkey Forest road to the market will give you a taste of Bali’s many surprises. Ubud’s market is a great place to grab a bargain and practise the art of haggling. In the centre of Ubud is the palace, still inhabited by the local princes and their families. The courtyard is still open to the public. We will also drive to a local temple where Bali’s complex and fascinating religion will be explained
